Shambhavi Mahamudra Course

Shambhavi Mahamudra is the doorway through which the seeker begins to taste the boundless. It is a sacred yogic process designed to align the mind, prana, and awareness into a single, luminous thread. When practiced correctly under guidance, it awakens a deep state of stillness where thought dissolves into consciousness itself.  Through this meditation, the seeker experiences the balance of Shiva and Shakti, the masculine and feminine energies of creation. Breath steadies, eyes become still, and the energy of life begins to flow upward, uncoiling dormant forces within.

What you will get in this course ?

Shambhavi Mahamudra is not just a yog asan — it is a life-transformative spiritual instrument. It is the sacred science through which body, mind, and soul are prepared to experience the highest dimension of existence. The ancient yogis did not create it as a mere technique, but as a doorway to the cosmic consciousness — so that we too can touch the same infinite bliss they once realized.

In this course, you will be guided through powerful yogic and meditative processes that purify the body, balance the energies, and awaken the inner awareness required for Shambhavi Siddhi. From sacred prayers and mantras that connect you with cosmic forces, to breath and energy practices like Pranayam, Kumbhak, Tratak, Khechari, and Mula Bandha Kriya, every step prepares you for the ultimate meditative state. As these practices align your system, energy begins to flow through the higher channels, unveiling clarity, peace, and an indescribable sense of oneness. Through this sacred journey, you don’t just practice Shambhavi — you become it.

1. Prayer to Connect with Cosmic Energy

Before entering the inner temple of meditation, we begin with a sacred prayer to attune ourselves to the vast, living field of cosmic energy. This prayer is not merely a ritual — it is an invocation that aligns the individual consciousness with the Universal Consciousness. Through deep feeling, devotion, and surrender, the practitioner opens subtle channels in the heart and crown, allowing the divine current to flow freely. This prayer purifies the inner atmosphere, quiets the restless mind, and creates a luminous bridge between the seeker and the infinite. When the heart vibrates in tune with the cosmos, meditation ceases to be an effort; it becomes a spontaneous merging. For those walking the path of Shambhavi Mahamudra Siddhi, this prayer becomes the sacred key — unlocking receptivity to the higher forces that guide and empower every step of the practice.

2. Mandala Shakti Yantra

Before meditation begins, an invisible yet powerful geometry is invoked around the practitioner — the Mandala Shakti Yantra. Though unseen, its energetic presence forms a field of concentrated awareness that harnesses the energy generated through meditation. This yantra is not a mere diagram; it is a living energetic matrix created through visualization, intention, and inner sound. As the practitioner imagines its formation, the space becomes charged with protective and magnetic vibrations, preventing energy dissipation and anchoring higher frequencies within the body. Over time, one begins to feel a subtle pulsation or warmth surrounding the meditative seat — the living aura of the yantra itself. Within the discipline of Shambhavi Mahamudra, this sacred preparation strengthens one’s capacity to retain and transmute the spiritual energy awakened through advanced practices. It is an invisible armor of light — a circle of grace drawn not on paper, but in consciousness itself.

3. Omkar Vidhi

Before entering silence, the vibration of Om becomes the bridge between the seen and the unseen. Omkar Vidhi is the practice of chanting the primordial sound “Om” in a specific rhythmic and conscious way to tune the mind and body with universal vibration. The sound resonates through every cell, dissolving accumulated tension and harmonizing the pranic currents. When done correctly, the chanting transforms from a sound uttered through the throat into a resonance felt through the spine and subtle centers. This is not mere recitation; it is energetic tuning. In the practice of Shambhavi Mahamudra Siddhi, Omkar Vidhi awakens the dormant awareness and prepares the mind for the subtler dimensions of perception. The reverberation of Om cleanses inner noise, stabilizes breath, and invites stillness. As the vibration fades into silence, meditation naturally begins — not as a doing, but as a gentle settling into pure being.

4. Jyoti Tratak Meditation

The Practice:
Jyoti Tratak — the steady gazing upon the flame of a desi ghee deepak — is the heart of this path and a mandatory step before entering deeper practices. The sacred flame represents the inner light of consciousness. As one fixes the gaze upon the unmoving flame, the eyes become gateways to stillness, and the wandering mind begins to dissolve. The pure ghee fire emits subtle pranic vibrations that purify the surrounding space and uplift the inner frequency.

Benefits:
With consistent practice, trataka enhances focus, strengthens willpower, and awakens the dormant intuitive eye. It cleanses the optic nerves, balances the hemispheres of the brain, and draws the energy upward toward higher centers. More profoundly, it kindles the inner flame — the jyoti within.

Types:
There are several gradations of trataka, progressing from outer gazing to subtler forms. In this course, you will be guided through each stage carefully, understanding its energetic and spiritual impact. Without Jyoti Tratak, the door to Shambhavi Mahamudra Siddhi remains closed.

5. Antah Tratak

After Jyoti Tratak, the light of the lamp imprints itself upon the inner vision. Antah Tratak — or inner gazing — begins when the eyes are gently closed, and the awareness is directed toward the afterimage of the flame (pratichhaya). This subtle inner practice unveils a world of color, forms, and sometimes emptiness. These manifestations are not hallucinations; they are reflections of inner processes and spiritual shifts. The hues, movements, or voids reveal the current state of the practitioner’s subtle body and mind. Each experience holds unique meaning, which is best understood under the guidance of a mentor. Through Antah Tratak, the inner eye begins to awaken, and the bridge between the conscious and subconscious realms strengthens. It refines perception, allowing one to perceive the invisible dimensions of energy that eventually culminate in Shambhavi Siddhi — the realization of the inner light that never flickers.

6. Kod Ki Sthapna

In Kod Ki Sthapna, the practitioner learns to direct the gaze and awareness toward certain inner, spiritually potent points. These points act as energetic codes — gateways that, when activated, begin to radiate subtle vibrations, aiding in the unfolding of Shambhavi Mahamudra Siddhi. Through delicate control of sight, breath, and attention, dormant centers within are awakened and charged with pranic vitality. Over time, these centers become alive, forming a living circuit of consciousness that guides meditation naturally inward. This process must be approached with reverence and precision, for the movement of energy within these locations is both powerful and transformative. When the kod is properly established, one feels a deep sense of alignment, as if the inner and outer worlds have synchronized into a single pulsation. It is one of the secret arts that prepare the seeker to receive the full transmission of Shambhavi Mahamudra.

7. Shambhavi Mahamudra

Shambhavi Mahamudra is the culmination of these preparatory practices — the sacred meeting point of energy, awareness, and stillness. It is not merely a technique but a state where perception turns inward and the third eye awakens to its natural luminosity. Through precise synchronization of gaze, breath, and inner awareness, the practitioner experiences a spontaneous expansion of consciousness. Thoughts lose their grip, the breath slows, and the being settles into effortless equipoise.

How to Do:
It involves holding the gaze in a particular inner direction while maintaining awareness of breath and subtle sensations. The body remains still, the mind alert yet quiet.

Benefits:
Regular practice harmonizes the nervous system, balances emotions, and unlocks intuitive insight. On deeper levels, it awakens the latent energy known as Shakti, guiding it toward union with Shiva, the pure consciousness.

Yogic Importance:
In yogic scriptures, Shambhavi is considered the royal gesture of enlightenment — the gateway from concentration to meditation, and from meditation to samadhi.

8. Khechari Mudra

Essence of the Practice:
Khechari Mudra is among the most revered and secret yogic techniques. By internalizing the tongue into specific positions within the mouth and beyond, the pranic flow reverses direction, drawing energy upward into the higher centers. It symbolizes “moving through space,” for it lifts the consciousness beyond physical limitations.

Energetic Role:
This mudra seals the upward current of life-force, preventing dissipation through the senses. It awakens deep stillness, enhancing concentration and opening the gateway to inner nectar (amrita).

Spiritual Significance:
When Khechari matures, it allows entry into meditative absorption beyond duality. The practitioner experiences inner silence untouched by external movement.

In Relation to Shambhavi Mahamudra:
Khechari supports Shambhavi Siddhi by stabilizing energy in the higher chakras, amplifying the third-eye connection, and sustaining prolonged meditative absorption. It is a practice of supreme grace, achievable through discipline, devotion, and inner readiness.

9. Upjivhya ka Yogic Prayog

The upjivhya, or uvula, holds a subtle yet profound role in advanced meditation. In certain deep states, its activation or gentle awareness becomes a powerful aid in regulating inner vibrations. The upjivhya acts as a bridge between the physical and subtle throats, where the vibration of Om and the current of amrita converge. By learning to bring attention to this region and engaging it through specialized practices, one refines the inner sound currents and prepares the body for Shambhavi Siddhi. This subtle engagement also influences the vagus nerve, calming the nervous system and deepening stillness. In esoteric yogic traditions, mastery over the upjivhya is said to mark the practitioner’s readiness to transcend ordinary states of consciousness. Its role may appear minor, but it becomes a key in unlocking deeper layers of perception and longevity in meditation. Methods involving this will be shared progressively as one advances through the course.

10. Mula Bandha Kriya

Mula Bandha — the root lock — is the conscious contraction of the perineal region to prevent the downward dissipation of energy. By subtly lifting and holding this region, the practitioner redirects the vital force (prana) upward through the spine, awakening the dormant energy at the base of the body. It stabilizes the foundation of all meditation and enhances awareness of the subtle body.

In Shambhavi Mahamudra Siddhi, Mula Bandha plays a crucial role in balancing and channeling energy toward higher centers. When combined with breath and awareness, it purifies the nadis (energy channels), stills the restless mind, and deepens concentration. Every serious meditator, regardless of path, benefits from mastering this kriya, for it governs the root of life itself. Properly practiced, it transforms sensual energy into spiritual force, grounding the practitioner in inner stability while opening the gateway to transcendence.

11. Sushumna Kriya

Sushumna Kriya is the art of awakening the central energy channel — the Sushumna Nadi — which runs through the spine, connecting the base to the crown. In ordinary life, energy moves through the side channels, Ida and Pingala, causing duality and restlessness. Through specific breathing, awareness, and internal focus, this kriya harmonizes these currents and directs the prana into the central path. When Sushumna becomes active, meditation deepens spontaneously, and the seeker begins to experience stillness beyond the play of opposites. In Shambhavi Mahamudra Siddhi, the activation of this channel is essential, for it is through the Sushumna that the awakened energy ascends. Physically, it revitalizes the spine and nervous system; energetically, it opens the gateway to transcendence. With consistent practice, the inner flow becomes a luminous current — a subtle ascent of consciousness toward the infinite.

12. Pranayam

In yoga, breath is not mere air but praanvayu — the vital force linking body, mind, and soul. To reach the still depths of Shambhavi Mahamudra Siddhi, the body must first become calm and receptive, and control over prana is the key. Pranayam refines the breath, balances the nervous system, and purifies the nadis.
Nadi Shodhan Pranayam cleanses the energy channels, balancing the left and right hemispheres of the brain, preparing one for inner balance. Ujjayi Pranayam, the victorious breath, generates warmth and awakens inner sound, allowing prana to flow in harmony with awareness. Bhramari Pranayam, the humming bee breath, dissolves mental agitation and brings tranquility through the subtle vibration of sound. Together, these pranayams make the body a fitting vessel for spiritual ascent. They stabilize the breath — and wherever the breath stabilizes, the mind naturally follows into stillness.

13. Kumbhak Kriya

Kumbhak means retention of breath — the sacred pause where life-force rests in stillness. There are two primary forms: Abhyantar Kumbhak (inner retention after inhalation) and Bahya Kumbhak (outer retention after exhalation). Through these, one learns to suspend the movement of prana and, eventually, of thought itself. Physically, this strengthens the lungs, heart, and nervous system. Spiritually, it trains awareness to exist without dependency on breath — a profound step toward freedom from the body’s limitations. In Shambhavi Mahamudra Siddhi, Kumbhak Kriya acts as the bridge between breath and breathlessness, action and stillness. As the breath pauses, the energy begins to rise naturally through Sushumna Nadi, drawing the mind into deep absorption. It is said that the space between breaths is the doorway to the eternal — and Kumbhak is the key to entering that sacred space.

14. Ardhnareshwar Swaroop

Within every being exist two primal energies — Shiva and Shakti, the masculine and feminine, consciousness and power. Ardhnarishwar Swaroop meditation awakens awareness of this divine duality within oneself. Through mantra, visualization, and inner balancing practices, the seeker begins to experience harmony between these forces. The right side of the body resonates with solar, assertive energy; the left with lunar, receptive energy. As both merge through deep meditation, an experience of completeness and unity arises — the true Ardhnarishwar, where the seeker becomes whole. This realization removes inner conflict and restores equilibrium between will and surrender, intellect and emotion, action and silence. In Shambhavi Mahamudra Siddhi, recognizing this sacred union is essential, for only when both currents are balanced can the energy rise unhindered through the central channel. The mantra and meditation associated with this practice invoke not only balance but blissful stillness beyond gender and form.

15. Energy Movement in Our Body

The human body is not solid matter but a flowing network of energy channels known as nadis. Through them moves prana, the subtle life-force that sustains every cell and thought. In ordinary states, this energy flows irregularly — scattered through emotions, desires, and distractions. Through yogic practices, especially Shambhavi Mahamudra Siddhi, this chaotic movement transforms into rhythmic harmony. The energy begins to spiral upward through the spine, connecting lower instincts to higher awareness. As the practitioner becomes more sensitive, the inner current is felt as warmth, vibration, or tingling — signs that the pranic field is awakening. When this flow becomes unobstructed, one experiences deep peace and effortless meditation. Understanding and sensing this energy movement is crucial, for it allows the seeker to cooperate with the divine intelligence working through the body, guiding the ascent toward inner illumination.

16. Nine Dwar and Dasam Dwar

The human body is described in yogic science as having nau dwar — nine gates through which consciousness interacts with the outer world. These include openings related to sensory and excretory functions, serving as the pathways of experience and expression. However, beyond these nine exists the Dasam Dwar — the Tenth Gate, a subtle opening at the crown of the head. It is through this sacred portal that the individual consciousness merges with the cosmic consciousness. When the Dasam Dwar opens, one transcends the body and senses, entering realms of pure light and bliss. In Shambhavi Mahamudra Siddhi, the awakening of this gate is the ultimate aim — the point where meditation becomes absorption, and the seeker realizes the vastness of their true nature. Guarding and purifying the nine gates through disciplined living and focused practice prepares the way for the blossoming of the tenth.

17. Hand Gestures and Their Benefits

The hands are extensions of the heart and mind, and their positioning greatly influences the flow of prana within. Yogic mudras are sacred gestures that channel subtle energy toward specific states of awareness. Gyan Mudra, where the thumb and index finger touch, enhances concentration and wisdom by completing the circuit of energy in the nervous system. Kuber Mudra, symbolizing abundance and clarity, stimulates inner confidence and focus, aligning thought with purpose. Kachhap Mudra, resembling the stillness of a turtle, turns the senses inward, helping to withdraw from outer distractions and enter deep meditation. Practicing these mudras during Shambhavi Mahamudra stabilizes energy, calms the mind, and connects the practitioner to specific vibrational frequencies. What appears as a simple hand gesture is, in truth, a key to unlocking inner circuits of divine energy and awareness.

18. Mantra to Initiate Deep Meditations

Mantras are living vibrations — sound forms of the divine that bridge the human and cosmic realms. In Shambhavi Mahamudra Siddhi, specific mantras are used to initiate deeper states of meditation by harmonizing the mind’s frequency with universal resonance. When chanted with devotion and awareness, the mantra purifies subtle layers of the mind and awakens latent energies in the chakras. The sound eventually transforms from an audible chant to a silent inner vibration, echoing within the heart. This state is called Mantra Sadhana — a sacred repetition where sound becomes consciousness itself. Physically, it soothes the nervous system and deepens focus. Spiritually, it dissolves the ego, preparing the seeker for direct experience of the Self. The mantra acts like a key, unlocking the doorway from effortful meditation to effortless stillness, guiding the practitioner toward the luminous silence of Shambhavi Siddhi.

19. Yantra Use on Our Body

Yantras are sacred geometric patterns that represent cosmic forces in visual form. When applied to the body, they act as energetic maps, guiding prana to move in specific harmonious directions. In this course, special emphasis is given to two yantras — the Infinity and the Triangle. The infinity symbol invokes balance and continuity, harmonizing dualities and allowing energy to circulate freely through the central channel. The triangle, symbolizing both ascent and descent, directs energy between higher and lower centers, ensuring a steady exchange between spirit and matter. Applying or visualizing these yantras on specific points of the body amplifies energy flow and supports the awakening of Shambhavi Mahamudra Siddhi. These forms are not decorative but vibrational — living blueprints of consciousness that attune the physical body with the geometry of the cosmos, anchoring divine harmony within.

20. Seven Karmas in Our Life (Spiritual)

There are seven sacred karmas that every human being must fulfill — duties that no one else can perform on one’s behalf. These are not worldly actions, but inner responsibilities essential for spiritual evolution. They include the purification and preparation of the body so that it becomes a temple for divine energy, the refinement of prana to ensure its conscious and peaceful exit through the right dwar at the time of leaving the body, and the release of accumulated karmic impressions that bind the soul to repeated cycles of birth and death.

Each of these seven karmas represents a step toward freedom — cultivating awareness, cleansing the mind of ignorance, nurturing compassion, aligning with truth, and serving the higher purpose for which one has taken birth. Through sincere sādhanā and practices like Shambhavi Mahamudra, these karmas begin to unfold naturally, bringing lightness, clarity, and deep fulfillment. When a person completes these inner karmas, life reaches its true completion — a conscious return to the source, free and radiant.

21. Naad Anusandhan

Naad Anusandhan is the exploration of inner sound — the subtle resonance that arises when the mind becomes still. Beyond the audible chants and external noises lies an eternal vibration, the Anahat Naad — the unstruck sound of existence. Through deep meditative listening, the seeker tunes into this divine current, first as gentle hums or tones, and later as cosmic music that fills the inner space. This practice refines perception, awakens the heart center, and draws consciousness toward the source of creation itself. In Shambhavi Mahamudra Siddhi, Naad Anusandhan is a culminating experience where awareness dissolves into vibration, and vibration into silence. Physically, it enhances concentration and calms the nervous system; spiritually, it leads to direct realization of the Self as pure sound — Nada Brahma, the universe as vibration. Listening becomes worship, and silence becomes the ultimate mantra.
